Hours: Minimum 10 hours/week

Starting Salary: $5,000/semester (~3 month semester)                                          

                                                         

The Job:                                                  

1% for the Planet is looking for an intern for our Development department. The primary responsibility is to research and analyze individual donor prospects and donors and produce concise profiles. Additional responsibilities include maintaining research and other key information in our donor database, assisting with special projects related to fundraising, and administrative work related to research and operations. The prospect research area works closely with members of the Development team. The work provides critical information needed to secure funding in support of 1% for the Planet’s operations.

This role will be based at our Headquarters in the South End of Burlington. This will be a paid role and some remote work/a hybrid work schedule will be allowed. 

Ideal candidates are highly motivated, have excellent communication skills, and a passion for the environment. The right student for this opportunity is a team player, an efficient and effective worker, and shows strong initiative to take on any task as it presents itself. 

                                                                             

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, verify and analyze biographical, financial, and philanthropic information on individual donors and prospects. 
  • Prepare concise, in-depth profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundations for use by CEO, Individual and Corporate Gift Officer and other staff engaged in fundraising activities.
  • Supporting donor files, including key donor deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts  
  • Identify connections between 1% for the Planet’s Board and donors/prospects.
  • Monitor news on key donors and prospects.
  • Post information in the donor database.
  • Assist with projects related to research, prospecting, operations, and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note: Currently, no 1% for the Planet staff members are required to work in our physical office space, even Vermont-based employees. Our team is currently either working from home or working a closely monitored hybrid schedule between their home and our headquarters. Any work done at our headquarters by 1% for the Planet staff members that choose to utilize the space is closely monitored by our team to ensure safety protocols for COVID-19 are implemented, regularly updated and upheld. We will safely arrange for any Vermont-based hire to be able to use our office space, should they request it. We will also work with any candidates to discuss a remote work schedule that feels most safe to them.
